No matter how much time we get with them… it’s nev No matter how much time we get with them… it’s never enough. ❤️🐾 I recently heard something that has stayed with me: The average dog gets just 12 summers. Twelve. Read that again. Not a lifetime. Just 12 summers to chase tennis balls, feel the sunshine on their fur, splash in the water, stick their head out the car window, and spend time with the people they love most. Losing Baxter reminded me that those summers go by far too quickly. We can’t slow time, but we can choose to be present. Take the walk. Plan the adventure. Let them sniff a little longer. Throw one more ball. Say yes to the pup cup. Because one day, those ordinary moments become the memories we treasure most. That’s one of the reasons I started Four Paws & Fellowship. It’s about making memories with our dogs while we still can. Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful group walk along the Trinity Trails, and I’d love for you to join us on the next one. 🗓️ Save the date: Saturday, July 25! A little planning now can make a big difference in helping your pup feel safe and secure this Fourth of July. If your dog has a history of anxiety during fireworks, don’t wait until the last minute to contact your veterinarian about calming medications or supplements. Veterinary offices can get especially busy this time of year, and some medications may need to be started before the holiday for the best results. A few reminders to help keep your dog safe: 🐾 Make sure ID tags and microchip information are current 🐾 Take a recent photo of your dog 🐾 Exercise earlier in the day 🐾 Create a quiet, comfortable space indoors 🐾 Use calming music or turn on the TV to help mask outside noises 🐾 Keep your dog indoors during fireworks 🐾 Only take your dog outside to potty on a secure leash 🐾 Stay calm and offer reassurance A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping your dog safe and stress-free this holiday. Please remember to be mindful of doggy etiquette: • Keep dogs on leash and under control at all times • Avoid nose-to-nose greetings and close sniffing • Maintain space between dogs • Be aware of children, runners, cyclists, and other trail users • Clean up after your pup Dogs should be comfortable around people and other dogs in a public setting and up to date on vaccinations. The Border Collie as a Formula 1 car? ✔️ The German Shepherd as a Land Rover? ✔️ The Labrador as a Toyota Hilux?
